Keeping you
a step ahead in Iran

  • EXPLORING
    AND UNDERSTANDING
    THE LOCAL MARKET

Since sanctions against Iran were lifted in 2015, the country has once again become a strategic business place in terms of exports and setting up businesses. The market opening has sparked investment and growth in the Iranian economy.

  • RESPONDING
    TO A HIGH
    POTENTIAL MARKET

The vast opportunities resulting from the sanctions lift (July 2015) affects all business sectors. Other countries such as China, Russia or even Korea and Italy are already very active in Iran.

  • SUPPORTING
    COMPANIES

    IN THEIR GROWTH

August Debouzy advises and looks after French companies in Iran and also Iranian business players focused on France. Our dedicated team with extensive experience in international negotiations, works alongside you to keep you a step ahead in your projects related to investment, distribution, setting up a local presence, etc.

  • TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION
    LOCAL CONDITIONS TO
    BUILD TRUSTED
    RELATIONSHIPS

Although foreign lawyers cannot use their professional title in Iran unless they have Iranian nationality or an Iranian law degree, the August Debouzy team in Paris and Teheran satisfies this local condition. Our command of the Persian language, the local culture, and patience combined with our experience allows us to build trusted relationships.

  • OVERCOME MARKET
    CONSTRAINTS

Our lawyers are well-versed in the issues surrounding the strict monitoring of trade still in place by U.S. and European authorities, and can help you throughout all stages of your business undertakings. Banks that can be flippant, European dynamics and reversibility of decisions are all significant concerns in the Iranian market. Such factors make up an unquestionable “country risk” that our team, with its know-how and peace of mind, takes into consideration with you.

  • “There are an incredible amount of companies that want to expand to Iran, explains Mahasti Razavi, a lawyer and partner at August Debouzy law firm who formed a team to advise clients in this respect. And all of them are waiting for the export credit system that the state-owned bank Bpifrance is currently putting in place.”

  • “French companies showed their interest in the Iranian market the first year it opened up. Today there is a certain degree of frustration in light of the slowdown due to structural hurdles caused by the extraterritorial practices of the United States.”
