Law firm August & Debouzy advised Air France in connection with the creation of the new airline Air Côe d’Ivoire, dedicated to the transportation of passengers and merchandise in Western and Central Africa, but also in Côte d’Ivoire.

The launch of this company will expand cooperation with airlines Air Burkina and Air Mali, the main shareholder of which is the Aga Khan fund for Economic Development. The purpose of the new company Air Côte d’Ivoire is to develop a platform in the Abidjan airport serving domestic and regional flights in Western and Central Africa.

The creation of Air Côte d’Ivoire is the result of a partnership entered into on May 15, 2012 between the Ivorian State, represented by the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Air France group and the Aga Khan fund for Economic Development (AKFED, economic development agency of the Aga Khan development network (AKDN)).

65% of Air Côte d’Ivoire’s share capital is owned by the State stake, 20% is owned by Air France and 15% is owned by the Aga Khan fund for Economic Development.

The first commercial flights are scheduled for summer 2012.

Legal counsels advising on the transaction: Charles Alluaume, counsel and Cédric Leroyer from the corporate practice.
