This Sunday 18 March, August Debouzy will host more than 100 French and international students as well as numerous arbitration practitioners on the occasion of its annual pre-moot.
For the seventh consecutive year, August Debouzy will receive this weekend fourteen university teams participating in the biggest arbitration competition in the world (Willem C.Vis Moot), whose final will take place in Vienna from 23 March.
On this occasion, five teams representing the best French universities (Sciences Po, Paris I Sorbonne, Paris II Assas, University of Versailles, HEC) as well as 9 foreign teams coming from Brazil (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Argentina (National University of Rosario), the United States (Florida College of Law), India (National Law School of India University, Bangalore), Japan (Doshisha University), Finland (University of Helsinki), Poland (Jagiellonian University) and Iran (Shahid Beheshti University) will confront their arguments before arbitral tribunal composed of arbitration professionals. The hearings, which are based on a fictive case, will raise such issues as the impartiality of one of the arbitrators or the rules governing the application of standard terms of sale in an international business transaction.
The Pre-Moot will be the opportunity for the participants to finalise their preparations before attending the oral hearings of the Vis Moot competition in Vienna next week.
