A provisional agreement between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the directive to empower consumers for the green transition was reached on 19 September 2023.
According to the agenda of the European Parliament's Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, the proposal for a directive on the substantiation and communication of explicit environmental claims, which aims to complement the Directive on Empowering Consumers by providing more specific rules on environmental claims, is due to be put to a vote at the Parliament's plenary session in March 2024.
This means that trialogues on this other text will not begin before the newly elected European Parliament.
