August Debouzy is pleased to announce the arrival of Louis Degeorges as Counsel. His extensive expertise in banking regulation, financial services and fintech will support all of the firm’s practices and teams through a fully integrated approach, consistent with the firm’s full-service model.
A member of the Paris Bar, Louis Degeorges has been advising banks, financial institutions, asset management companies, insurance companies and fintechs for more than ten years on complex regulatory matters.
His practice notably covers:
He has been involved in several high-profile transactions in the banking and financial sectors, as well as in sensitive regulatory matters, notably in connection with the disposal of HSBC’s retail banking operations in France and disciplinary proceedings before the ACPR. He also advises leading banking groups on the impact of regulatory developments on their businesses and operating models.
At the crossroads of transactional, regulatory and innovation matters, his profile responds to growing client demand for integrated approaches to these issues. He also advises key players in the Moroccan financial sector, contributing to the firm’s international development in these areas.
“We are positioning ourselves in a space where client expectations are evolving rapidly: financial regulation has become increasingly technical, strategic and cross-disciplinary. Louis’ profile enables us to address these challenges through an approach that combines legal expertise, understanding of transactions and insight into market dynamics,” said Mahasti Razavi, Managing Partner.
“Joining August Debouzy was an obvious choice for me: it is one of the few independent firms in the market combining ambition, agility and a multidisciplinary approach, with a genuine commitment to building a cross-practice banking and financial regulatory capability for the benefit of all its teams. At a time when the financial sector is undergoing profound transformation and companies face an increasingly complex risk landscape, this is the ideal environment to provide long-term, practical support to financial institutions, fintechs and investors navigating between the pursuit of innovation and compliance obligations,” added Louis Degeorges.
