August & Debouzy is pleased to announce that Laurent Cotret and Julien Wagmann have been elected partners of the firm. With these two promotions, the Corporate department, headed by Gilles August, now includes 9 partners.

Laurent Cotret joined August & Debouzy’s Corporate department in 2006. He acts in a broad range of matters including restructurings, collective insolvency proceedings and distressed M&A. Laurent Cotret advises companies, directors and shareholders throughout all critical phases they face, including financial distress (either current or anticipated), as well as crisis related to organizational managerial, and corporate governance issues. He also advises companies facing difficulties with their clients and suppliers, and is specialized in business and asset transfers subsequent to insolvency proceedings.

Laurent Cotret states, “I am thrilled at the prospect of further developing the firm’s restructuring practice. My objective is clearly to continue providing clients with quality legal services alongside our team of specialists with complementary skills, while also promoting the other practice areas of the firm (in particular, labor/employment, tax and litigation).”

Julien Wagmann joined August & Debouzy in 2013 as Counsel and his promotion to partner will underpin the firm’s Private Equity practice. Julien Wagmann advises investment funds, companies and directors or managers in their acquisitions (particularly LBOs), sales, joint ventures and reorganizations, as well as in capital raisings, in both French law and in multijurisdictional contexts. Julien Wagmann has also developed expertise with regard to management packages and shareholders’ dispute matters. In addition, he regularly advises several key players in the energy sector in relation to their external growth and/or project finance transactions.

Julien Wagmann adds, “This election is an important step to further boost the Private Equity team. The strength of our team and of the firm as a whole is to combine expertise and agility which allow us to act in all phases of private equity transactions both for small cap, as well as medium to large cap deals.”

“We are very delighted to have Laurent Cotret and Julien Wagmann amongst our partners. We are committed to providing our clients with the expertise of a team that is highly motivated and specialized, with an excellent understanding of specific business sectors. Today our Corporate department covers all the legal needs that companies, investors and funds may face throughout the different stages of their development”, says Gilles August, founding partner of August & Debouzy.
