Louis Degeorges
Counsel
Louis Degeorges joined August Debouzy as Counsel in May 2026.
He has over ten years of experience in financial services regulatory matters and FinTech, gained at leading international law firms including Linklaters and Freshfields, as well as major financial institutions such as BNP Paribas CIB and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation. He advises French and international banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and FinTech firms, on a broad range of regulatory issues.
His practice covers regulatory aspects of transactions involving financial institutions, including licensing, changes of control and business transfers. He also advises on group structure, governance, prudential requirements, conduct of business, financial product marketing and the provision of financial services.
Louis regularly assists financial institutions during investigations conducted by, and in enforcement or disciplinary proceedings before, the French regulatory authority (ACPR), particularly in relation to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing matters.
He has also developed strong expertise in asset management, advising on the structuring and establishment of French investment funds, primarily funds targeting professional investors such as FPCI, FPS, SLP and OPPCI, as well as on their marketing in France and related distribution and investment management delegation agreements.
He has significant experience in FinTech regulation and advises payment institutions, crypto-asset service providers and blockchain-related businesses on applicable regulatory frameworks.
He has also developed strong ties with Morocco, where he advises financial institutions and insurance companies.
