Etienne Mathey is a partner in August Debouzy's Corporate team, which he joined in January 2024. He specialises in strategic M&A and private equity transactions, both domestic and international.
Etienne has almost 25 years' recognised experience and expertise in mergers and acquisitions, LBOs, growth capital, venture capital and securities law. He handles a wide range of matters, including private equity transactions on behalf of funds and strategic deals (such as carve-outs, joint ventures, and public offerings) for corporate clients, both French and international, in a variety of sectors, including defense, luxury, healthcare, and telecommunications
He also advises on complex pre-litigation and litigation matters (including post-acquisition and shareholder disputes).
Before joining the firm, Étienne Mathey worked at French and Anglo-Saxon law firms such as RAMBAUD MARTEL (2003 - 2006), PROSKAUER ROSE LLP (2006 - 2011) and PAUL HASTINGS (2011 - 2023), where he became a partner in 2014.
In 2005, Étienne was named as the “best young business lawyer” in a competition sponsored by ACE, the French Association of Corporate Lawyers.
