A New Partner to Head August & Debouzy’s Competition Department

August & Debouzy is pleased to announce the arrival of Christophe Clarenc as a partner in charge of the firm’s Competition Department in Paris and Brussels. He will also be joined by Renaud Christol, of counsel.
The arrival of Christophe Clarenc completes the creation of August & Debouzy’s Competition Department, which comprises one partner, two of counsels – Cécile Menu-Eisenchteter and Renaud Christol, and a team of associates. Christophe Clarenc will be in charge of developing the firm’s practice in this area both in Paris and Brussels.
“We are delighted to welcome Christophe and Renaud to the firm. The arrival of this team, which has a leading reputation in the French market, will allow us to expand our practice in this area as our clients are increasingly approaching us for advice on antitrust issues”, explains Gilles August, founding partner of the firm.
Christophe Clarenc was previously a partner in the Competition Department of Latham & Watkins’ Paris office. He advises French and foreign companies on competition law issues (abuse of dominant positions, cartels, antitrust damages, merger control, State aids) and sector-specific regulatory law before the authorities and the courts of law. He is particularly renowned for his advisory and contentious work in regulated industries (telecoms, media, energy, etc.).

Christophe Clarenc is an alumnus of the University of Paris I. He is an attorney and has been a member of the Paris Bar since 1998. He previously practiced at Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot and Latham & Watkins.
Renaud Christol holds a DJCE diploma from the University of Montpellier. He is an attorney and has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2003. He previously practiced at Jeantet Associés and Latham & Watkins.
